HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) —Pennsylvanians who use MyChart, an online patient portal used by many hospitals and healthcare providers, are warned to be alert for potential phishing scams
Attorney General Dave Sunday said scammers have been impersonating MyChart by sending emails and text messages offering free rewards
Sunday said there is no MyChart reward program, and you should only contact your healthcare provider
“Scammers are always looking for new ways to obtain as much of your personal information as possible,” Sunday said in a release. “Stay on the lookout for this new scam tactic, and contact your medical office if you’re not sure how to access the MyChart website assigned to your providers.”
If you receive a message like this, do not reply, provide any information, or click on any links or attachments — including an “unsubscribe” button
Instead, you should delete the message and contact your healthcare provider
Those with questions or who believe they may have been scammed can contact the Bureau of Consumer Protection by emailing scams@attorneygeneral.gov, or call 1-800-441-2555
