The Broome County District Attorney’s Office will host a Chalk the Walk site outside the George R. Harvey Justice Building in Binghamton from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18, inviting residents to write messages supporting mental wellness and suicide prevention

The event will take place at 45 Hawley St., according to a community announcement. Members of the public can stop by, pick up chalk provided at the site and leave messages of hope and encouragement on the sidewalk

Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend and take part in the awareness effort designed to promote positive conversations about mental wellness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges

Chalk the Walk is a countywide campaign running Sept. 10-20 in partnership with BC SAFE, which stands for Broome County Suicide Awareness For Everyone. The initiative encourages residents to share uplifting messages in public spaces across the county

    Community invited to participate

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office said it is proud to join the campaign and is encouraging community members to bring friends and help fill the sidewalk with supportive messages

According to the announcement, the campaign focuses on mental wellness awareness, normalizing conversations about mental health and supporting suicide prevention efforts throughout Broome County
