Beacon Health System says it is cutting some jobs after social media posts raised concerns about layoffs at Elkhart General Hospital
Beacon cited financial pressures and said care costs are outpacing insurance reimbursements
Beacon Health System released a statement, saying:
Like health systems across the country, Beacon Health System continues to navigate significant financial pressures as the cost of providing care rises faster than reimbursement from government and commercial insurance programs.
To ensure Beacon remains strong and sustainable for the communities we serve, we are taking several steps to strengthen our financial position, including organizational changes focused primarily on administrative and operational areas. These are difficult but necessary decisions that will help us protect our ability to provide outstanding care and invest in the services our communities depend on.
We recognize the very real impact these decisions have on our colleagues. Beacon is committed to supporting affected associates and, wherever possible, helping them identify other opportunities within our health system.
Our mission remains unchanged and we will continue to make thoughtful, responsible decisions that position Beacon to serve our patients and communities for generations to come.
