Integration brings AI-powered vocal analysis into VillageFor’s maternal mental health platform as demand grows for more continuous support throughout the motherhood journey

PROVO, Utah, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Canary Speech, a leader in AI-powered vocal biomarker technology, and VillageFor, a maternal mental health platform for every path to motherhood, today announced a partnership that integrates Canary Speech’s AI-powered vocal analysis technology into VillageFor’s journaling experience. The integration, launched October 1st, gives women another way to regularly check in on their emotional well-being during a period when mental health can change considerably between visits with a healthcare provider.

Through the new partnership, women using VillageFor’s voice journaling feature can receive a Canary Speech wellness assessment based on vocal characteristics captured during their journal entry. Canary’s assessment is designed as a daily or weekly self check-in and is not intended to diagnose a mental health condition. It will be available as an add-on to VillageFor’s free My Village app and included in its Village Plus premium subscription offering.

Maternal mental wellness is gaining significant traction throughout the healthcare ecosystem, driving clinicians and policy leaders to move past isolated evaluations in favor of ongoing care. According to government statistics, postpartum depression impacts nearly one out of every eight mothers, yet over 50% go untreated. Global medical guidelines now advocate for routine emotional assessments during every postnatal check-in, ensuring these regular reviews connect seamlessly to comprehensive clinical evaluation, therapy, and ongoing follow-up.

“Maternal Mental health isn’t static, and how someone is feeling can change from one day or week to the next,” said Henry O’Connell, CEO of Canary Speech. “By bringing our vocal analysis into VillageFor, we’re giving women another way to check in with themselves using their own voice. The partnership is an important step toward making emotional wellness insights accessible in everyday life.”

VillageFor supports women across nine stages of motherhood, from trying to conceive and pregnancy through postpartum, pregnancy loss and infant loss. The app includes clinically validated postpartum depression screening using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS-US), daily mood check-ins, journaling, educational content and tools for anxiety management

“From the beginning, VillageFor has been focused on empowering women to better understand their mental health during some of the most emotionally complex moments in the journey into and through motherhood,” said Christy Davis, Co-Founder and CEO of VillageFor. “We’re creating a safe place where women can check in with themselves, recognize patterns in how they’re feeling, and feel supported through experiences that can often be difficult to put into words. Our partnership with Canary Speech brings an entirely new dimension to that. A woman may say she’s fine, while her voice can carry signals that tell a more complex story. By bringing vocal biomarkers together with clinical screenings, mood check-ins and longitudinal insights, we’re giving women another way to understand what may be changing in their mental health over time. That is what makes this partnership so meaningful: using technology to help women better understand themselves, feel seen in what they’re experiencing, and have more support around them throughout motherhood.”

The partnership will extend to VillageFor’s #AskHerTwice initiative launching October 10th in recognition of World Mental Health Day. The campaign challenges the reflexive “I’m fine” response that can mask how mothers are actually feeling and encourages families, friends and communities to ask again and create space for an honest answer. Under the theme “Motherhood Isn’t Looking Fine,” #AskHerTwice will invite mothers to complete the statement “Motherhood isn’t __” in their own words. Canary will participate in an in-person launch event supporting the initiative and providing information on the voice journaling feature.
