Dr. Robyn Marks, a doctor of osteopathic medicine specializing in general surgery, is thrilled to join Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior. “I completed my residency with the University of Minnesota on the rural surgery track, which luckily meant I got to spend the last two years of my residency training with Essentia,”said Dr. Marks.“I was excited about the opportunity to return to Essentia for my practice. I love the emphasis on community that these hospitals have and am excited about the opportunity to expand the general surgical reach of the system to the communities of northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.”
Dr. Marks received her degree from Burrell College in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She completed her surgical critical care fellowship at Maine Medical Center in Portland and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. “I was drawn to surgery due to the complexity of problems and being able to use my problem-solving brain and hands-on approach to help give back to the community,”said Dr. Marks.“In medical school, I was drawn even further to general surgery due to the breadth of practice and the way that, despite being proceduralists, general surgeons also have a roll in primary and preventive care. So, it felt like it was a great way to be an all-around provider.”
