Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior welcomes general surgeon Dr. Cristina Masten

Dr. Cristina Masten, a doctor of osteopathic medicine specializing in general surgery, is thrilled to join Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior. She is excited to return to Essentia after completely two years of residency here.“I chose to specialize in general surgery because I liked the wide variety of disease I am able to help treat,”said Dr. Masten.“I am able to help people in a time of need in a very direct way. My decision was solidified when I participated in medical outreach trips in Bolivia as a medical student and realized the impact that could be made for people both at home and globally.”
Dr. Masten earned her degree from Kansas City University in Missouri. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. “I look forward to meeting with my patients and discussing their healthcare and surgical needs so I can provide the best care for them,”said Masten.
