Happy Health, a Texas-based digital health startup, has raised $75 million led by ARCH Venture Partners and OpenLoop to expand its AI-powered health monitoring platform beyond obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis. The company emerged from stealth on Tuesday, unveiling its FDA-cleared Happy Ring, which uses biometric data and AI to diagnose sleep apnea within days and connects patients to physicians who can prescribe treatments like CPAP machines. CEO Dustin Freckleton founded the company after suffering a stroke at 24 and later being diagnosed with sleep apnea. The system costs $396 out of pocket and is often covered by insurance. Nearly 80% of Americans with obstructive sleep apnea remain undiagnosed, representing a substantial market opportunity. The company plans to expand into cardiovascular, metabolic, and other chronic disease monitoring.

Happy Health Secures $75 Million to Expand AI-Powered Sleep Apnea Ring Platform

Happy Health, a Texas-based digital health startup, has raised $75 million to expand its continuous healthcare monitoring platform beyond its initial focus on diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea. The financing was led by ARCH Venture Partners and OpenLoop, both of which have backed the company since its founding in 2019

The company emerged from stealth on Tuesday, unveiling the funding alongside the broader vision behind its flagship product, the Happy Ring. The device, which received FDA clearance for obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis in June 2025, collects biometric data while users sleep and analyzes it with artificial intelligence. Happy Health previously obtained initial clearance for general biometric monitoring in September 2024.

Dustin Freckleton, the company’s CEO, founded Happy Health after a personal health crisis. At 24, he suffered a stroke during his first year of medical school that left him temporarily paralyzed on one side of his body. Nearly seven years later, he was diagnosed with sleep apnea, a condition linked to increased stroke risk, as well as atrial fibrillation. Those experiences shaped the company’s mission.

“What we’ve built in sleep is the foundation for a much bigger vision: continuously monitoring patients at home to detect disease earlier and give physicians the opportunity to intervene before it becomes more serious,” Freckleton said in an interview. “The funds will help us accelerate toward this goal, strengthening the tech, while building out the clinical validation and infrastructure to take our capabilities beyond sleep.”

The company’s platform is designed to diagnose sleep apnea within several nights by monitoring a range of biometric parameters. After testing, patients can connect with a physician in Happy Health’s network, who can diagnose the condition and prescribe treatments such as CPAP machines or dental devices. The system costs $396 out of pocket, including the ring, one year of sleep tracking, and physician consultations. Freckleton said it is often covered by insurance.

Freckleton said tens of thousands of people have used the platform to date. He declined to disclose the company’s valuation or revenue. The last tranche of funding closed in 2025

The market opportunity is substantial. Research from 2024 indicates that more than 83 million people in the US have sleep apnea, yet nearly 80% of Americans with obstructive sleep apnea remain undiagnosed. The condition has established links to hypertension, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and metabolic disorders

Happy Health expects its platform to eventually support earlier physician-guided detection and management across cardiovascular, metabolic, and other chronic diseases. It is unclear whether new devices will be developed to support these additional indications

Freckleton acknowledged that the company faces a perception challenge, given that consumers have come to associate smart rings with wellness trackers rather than clinical tools. He drew a direct contrast with Oura, the dominant player in the consumer smart ring category

“That’s a natural assumption because products like Oura have defined what consumers expect from a ring,” he said. “Oura built a fantastic wellness product and proved that people care about sleep. We’re building something entirely different: a clinical-grade health platform that happens to fit on your finger.”

He added: “If you want to track your bad sleep, go to Oura. If you want to fix your bad sleep, come to Happy.”

The broader patient monitoring market is growing at a compound annual growth rate of 1.9% and is forecast to reach approximately $25.4 billion in 2035, up from around $21 billion in 2025

Happy Health’s approach reflects a broader trend in digital health toward moving diagnosis and monitoring out of clinical settings and into the home. By combining hardware, AI-driven analysis, and a physician network, the company is positioning itself as an end-to-end care platform rather than a device maker

The company also shared a redacted version of the pitch deck used to raise the $75 million, offering a rare look at how a clinical-stage hardware startup positions itself to investors. The deck highlights the company’s regulatory milestones, clinical validation work, and the expansion roadmap beyond sleep

For investors, the funding signals continued appetite for companies operating at the intersection of wearable technology, AI, and chronic disease management. For patients, Happy Health’s expansion plans point toward a future where a single wearable device could monitor multiple conditions and connect users directly to physician-guided care
