WESTON, W.Va.— Days after the reorganization announcement by Vandalia Health, health system officials say they’ll end obstetrics delivery services at Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston May 1
Vandalia Health said there have been difficulties in recruiting staff
“It was a difficult decision made with the best interests of our patients and community in mind,” Vandalia Health said
The current clinical team is notifying patients to help coordinate plans to continue care at one of the nearby hospitals like WVU St. Joseph’s Hospital, WVU Camden Clark Medical Center, and Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center
Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial will continue to provide gynecological, prenatal and postpartum care
“Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital plans to provide gynecological, prenatal and postpartum care and is working toward that goal,” a news release said. “While we have had to make the difficult decision to close obstetrics services, this is not a reflection of our commitment to provide hospital services to the community. We remain committed to building a new facility and providing both inpatient and outpatient care.”
Vandalia Health announced earlier this week plans to restructure the health system with Charleston-based CAMC being its own division and the other more than dozen health facilities making up the other division. Several senior management staff positions are also being eliminated
