The Gabit Smart Ring is built around a simple idea: health tracking works best when you are actually wearing the device doing the tracking. Smartwatches have become incredibly good at monitoring everything from heart rate and workouts to sleep and stress, but between charging them every day or two, taking them off at night, or simply not wanting another screen strapped to your wrist all day, there can be some pretty big gaps in that data.

That is where a smart ring starts making a lot of sense. It promises much of the passive health tracking of a smartwatch in something smaller, lighter and considerably easier to wear around the clock. More importantly, you can go several days without worrying about charging it

    © Hook.Online

There is, however, another problem: good smart rings are usually expensive. Samsung’s Galaxy Ring costs around ₹39,000, while the Oura Ring, often considered the gold standard for smart rings, costs around ₹28,000 and requires a subscription to unlock its full experience

The Gabit Smart Ring, meanwhile, costs around ₹14,500 and requires no subscription. It tracks sleep, activity, heart rate, stress, recovery and temperature. I’ve been using it to find out what compromises that lower price brings, and whether it can genuinely replace a smartwatch

Gabit Smart Ring Design: Comfortable Enough That You Forget About It

The Gabit Smart Ring keeps things fairly simple when it comes to design. My review unit is the Graphite Black variant in size 13, and despite being noticeably wider than a conventional ring, it never felt particularly bulky on my finger. At around 8mm wide and 2.7mm thick, it is compact enough that I quickly stopped paying much attention to it

The outer shell is made from titanium, while the inside uses a non-allergenic resin that houses three slightly raised sensor nodes. These sit against your skin to maintain proper contact, but I never found them uncomfortable, even while wearing the ring overnight. At under 4g, it is also extremely light

Getting the size right is crucial. I would suggest getting a sizing kit from Gabit first, which comes with plastic rings ranging from sizes 6 to 13

There is one practical annoyance, though. You will probably find yourself taking the ring off fairly often. Washing your face with a chunky ring on your finger can feel awkward, and I would definitely suggest removing it while working out with weights. I found it getting in the way during weight training, particularly when gripping dumbbells and barbells

Those rough metal surfaces can also scuff the finish over time. Gabit sells protective covers or ‘skins’ for the ring, but these inevitably make an already chunky ring slightly thicker

Finally, there is 5ATM water resistance, so you can comfortably wear it while showering, washing your hands or swimming

Gabit Smart Ring Health Tracking: Great For Tracking, With A Few Blind Spots

The Gabit Smart Ring works best as a passive health tracker. It uses a PPG sensor, 3-axis accelerometer and skin-temperature sensor to track metrics including heart rate, steps, movement, stress and temperature. Because you can comfortably wear it throughout the day and night, there are also fewer gaps in your data than with a smartwatch you regularly take off

Sleep tracking is one of its biggest features. The ring records your total sleep duration and breaks it down into light, deep and REM sleep, while also tracking awake time, resting heart rate and sleep consistency. Roughly seven out of ten nights, it tracked my sleep quite accurately, getting my sleep and wake times reasonably close

    © Hook.Online

But on the remaining nights, things could get bizarre. It would sometimes mark me as awake when I was sleeping, or asleep when I knew I was awake. On a few occasions, I got a perfectly good seven to eight hours of sleep, only for Gabit to record around five

The bigger problem is that this data feeds into the recovery score, which uses sleep and other physiological metrics to estimate how ready your body is for the day. There were mornings when I woke up completely refreshed, while Gabit insisted my recovery was poor because it had severely underreported my sleep

Workout tracking is more limited. You can track exercise and heart rate, but there is no built-in GPS, and a screenless ring cannot give you the glanceable, real-time information that an Apple Watch can. Heart-rate readings can also become less consistent during intense movement

    © Hook.Online

And, of course, there are no notifications, calls, navigation prompts or other smartwatch conveniences. The Gabit isn’t replacing everything my Apple Watch does. It is replacing the part that tracks my health when I don’t want to wear a watch

For everyday wellness tracking, it works well. But those occasional sleep errors mean I wouldn’t blindly trust every score it gives me

Gabit Smart Ring App & Features: A Useful App That Tries To Do Too Much

Since there is no screen on the Gabit Smart Ring, almost everything happens inside the Gabit app, available on Android and iOS. And there is certainly no shortage of information. The home screen brings together your sleep, activity, recovery, stress, calories and other health metrics, with each section opening into more detailed historical data

The problem is that Gabit tries to squeeze too much into one app. Alongside your health data, there is nutrition logging, goal setting, community features called Tribes, an AI assistant called PEP, and even options to shop for Gabit accessories and nutrition products. Promotional banners appear too, making the interface unnecessarily busy when all you want to do is check last night’s sleep

    © Hook.Online

PEP lets you ask questions about your recorded data and provides explanations and recommendations. These are AI-generated insights, though, so I wouldn’t treat them as medical advice

There are other limitations. Certain features require an active internet connection, while several interactions require reaching for your phone. More importantly, there is no way to locate or track the ring if you lose it, which is slightly worrying for something this small and easy to misplace

The underlying health information is useful and presented reasonably well. Gabit simply needs to declutter the experience and add a few practical quality-of-life features

Gabit Smart Ring Battery: More Tracking, Less Charging

Battery life is easily one of the Gabit Smart Ring’s biggest strengths. On my size 13 review unit, I consistently got around eight days of continuous use and tracking before needing to charge it. That is fantastic for something designed to monitor your health around the clock, and considerably reduces the chances of losing a night of sleep data simply because you forgot to charge your wearable

    © Hook.Online

There is an important caveat, though. The battery capacity varies depending on the size of the ring, with larger rings accommodating larger batteries. Since I tested the largest size 13, your endurance may differ, particularly if you opt for one of the smaller sizes

Charging is handled through the bundled USB-C charging case. In my experience, a complete charge took around two to two and a half hours, which is fairly slow. But when you’re only reaching for the charger roughly once a week, it is hardly a deal-breaker

Coming from a smartwatch that needs charging every day or two, this was easily one of my favourite things about using the Gabit

Verdict: Is The Gabit Smart Ring Worth It?

At around ₹14,500, the Gabit Smart Ring makes a compelling case for itself. It is light, comfortable enough to wear throughout the day and night, and my size 13 unit lasted around eight days between charges

But perhaps its biggest advantage is value. Premium smart rings can cost well above ₹25,000, while something like the Oura Ring also requires a monthly or annual subscription to unlock the complete experience. Gabit charges you once and that’s it. There is no subscription required to access your health, sleep or recovery data, which makes that ₹14,500 price considerably more attractive

    © Hook.Online

The tracking experience isn’t perfect. Heart rate, activity, stress and temperature tracking generally work well, but occasional sleep-tracking errors can subsequently throw off your recovery score. The Gabit app could also be cleaner and less cluttered

And I wouldn’t replace my Apple Watch entirely. For workouts, GPS, notifications and real-time metrics, a smartwatch remains considerably more capable

But Gabit’s strength is being something I can wear almost continuously. It quietly collects health data and asks very little from me in return

For under ₹15,000, the combination of comfort, excellent battery life, useful tracking and zero recurring fees makes it an easy recommendation, provided you understand its limitations

Sleep. Exercise. Eat well. It’s the oldest recommendation in medicine, repeated so often it’s become a cliche. We know the advice, even if we don’t always follow it. But have you ever stopped to wonder why these three seemingly different habits have such remarkably similar effects on our brains and bodies?
