SISTERSVILLE, W.Va. (WTAP) – A new era of health care is coming to Sistersville
Memorial Health System celebrated a major milestone Friday for the new Sistersville General Hospital, with community members signing the final steel beam before it is raised into place
The 30,000-square-foot hospital is set to open in 2027, bringing expanded services and modern equipment to rural West Virginia
Memorial Health System President and CEO Scott Cantley said the hospital will serve the community for generations
“This beam we’re going to sign today, this steel beam that’ll be a part of the structure of a hospital for another 100 years, hopefully even more than that, will take this community and this healthcare in Tyler County for another generation,” Cantley said
He added the hospital will be a center of the community for families and community events for years to come
The new facility will feature 16 inpatient beds, enhanced inpatient therapy services, advanced diagnostic tools, new procedure areas, an expanded laboratory and a dedicated community space — bringing the future of health care to Tyler, Pleasants, Wetzel and surrounding counties
Organizers also celebrated fundraising progress, announcing The Promise Campaign has raised nearly $14.2 million toward the new hospital
“This region has a future worth investing in,” said David Kelly, Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation. “That is a remarkable expression of generosity and confidence in this community.”
He thanked donors whose gifts, he said, are turning a shared vision into something the community can see rising before them
State and local leaders, community members, supporters and health care providers all left their mark on the beam before it goes up
