Next month, the Manistee Friendship Society is recognizing Suicide Awareness and Prevention Monththrough three events, bringing attention to mental health, encouraging connections and reminding people that support is available.

A free sound bath experience with Four Directions Alchemy is being offered 11 a.m. on Sept. 3 at the Manistee Friendship Society, located 50 Filer St., Suite 310A inside the Briny Building in Manistee.
A sound bath is a calming experience using soothing sounds and gentle vibrations to support relaxation, mindfulness and mental well-being. Call 231-398-0434 to reserve a spot.
The Manistee Friendship Society will host a Suicide Awareness and Prevention event at the Wagoner Community Center at 260 Saint Mary’s Parkway from 4-7 p.m. on Sept. 9.

Manistee-based podcast focuses on mental health
The Manistee Friendship Society is giving local residents a new platform to share candid stories about mental health, addiction recovery and overcoming stigma.
The free event features two guest speakers, Chelsey Kott at 4 p.m., and keynote speaker Barb Smith at 5:30 p.m.
Kott will share her lived experience of losing a loved one to suicide. Smith will speak on rerk.
There will be community reod truck will open at 4:30 p.m.

Human-animal relationships have been shown to benefit mental health, such as helping to allemerican Psychological Association.
