Mass General Brigham
A network outage across the Mass General Brigham system on Thursday has pushed the health care network’s hospitals and other care teams off of computers temporarily
Patient care was continuing during the outage, an MGB representative told NBC10 Boston. The incident isn’t believed to be a cyberattack
Staff at Massachusetts General Hospital received a notice about “sporadic network outages across all sites.”
MGB said the move to what is referred to as “downtime procedures” was done to ensure patient safety out of an abundance of caution. An incident command team was working to quickly restore services
Sites were bringing their systems back online as of about 5:50 p.m., a spokesman said in an update, which noted that “some elective outpatient procedures” didn’t take place after the incident began about noon
Hospital downtime procedures are the backup system for when staff can’t access computers, the MGB representative said. They can include paper forms
Mass General Brigham is Massachusetts’ largest health care system
