Samsung Health is getting a major update with new sleep, running, and nutrition features. Sleep Coaching now needs less data to get started, while Running Coach adds more levels for experienced runners. The update also introduces Scan Meal, which turns food photos into nutrition insights
Sleep Coaching now needs just three days of data
The latest Samsung Health update brings the biggest change in Sleep Coaching. Previously, users needed seven days of sleep data within a month to start the program. Now, three days of data from the past two weeks is enough
For the uninitiated, the Sleep Coaching setup process involves answering a few questions about your sleep regularity, sleep interruptions, alcohol and caffeine intake, and subjective sleep satisfaction. The app then assigns a Sleep Animal symbol and creates a four- to eight-week coaching program. The plan adjusts every week as sleep patterns change

Samsung has also introduced a pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph that shows five key aspects of sleep indicators. These include sleep time, sleep regularity, awake time during the night, sleep satisfaction, and Energy Score. As a result, you can quickly spot areas that need attention. Daily checklists also suggest simple habits, such as avoiding screens an hour before bed
Samsung Health brings new tools to help manage nutrition
On the nutrition side, Samsung has introduced Scan Meal as a beta service in the US. You can snap a photo of your meal to get calorie, ingredient, and nutrition insights without logging everything manually

The app also calculates a Diet Score with four tiers: Needs Attention, Fair, Good, and Excellent. It analyzes eating habits in seven dimensions, including food groups and beverages. Moreover, Samsung offers an eight- to 14-week nutrition program with guides, challenges, and meal planning

Running Coach brings tougher training levels
Running Coach now offers 12 training levels instead of 10. The new tiers target intermediate and advanced runners looking for higher goals. However, the training plans still rely on a 12-minute running test or your past running data

Thanks to the new social media features, you can now share your workout stats, personal records, and route using share-ready templates
Moreover, you can import Strava Routes for running, trail running, and cycling into Samsung Health. Hopefully, this update also addresses the Strava syncing issue some Galaxy Watch owners have been dealing with
The new features will arrive through Samsung Health app updates this month
