Mark R. Rosekind, Ph.D.,
The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) has named Mark R. Rosekind, Ph.D., chair of its board of directors, placing the internationally recognized sleep and fatigue expert at the helm of the organization’s efforts to advance sleep health, safety and public education
As board chair, Rosekind will lead a board of researchers, clinicians, business leaders and public health experts dedicated to improving health and well-being through better sleep
Rosekind is widely recognized for his work in sleep science, fatigue management and human performance. During his career, he served in two Senate-confirmed presidential appointments, first as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board—the first sleep scientist to serve on the board—and later as the 15th administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He also directed NASA’s Fatigue Countermeasures Program and previously served on the NSF board. He is a recipient of the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

His vision, leadership, and passion for advancing sleep health will be invaluable as NSF continues to expand its impact.”

The foundation also recognized Steven E. Lerman, M.D., M.P.H., for his service as board chair, thanking him for his leadership and ongoing commitment to advancing sleep health
