Rocky View Schools is once again offering free summer programming aimed at supporting the mental health and well-being of children, youth and families across its communities
According to Rocky View Schools, the Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) initiative features a variety of experiential programs throughout July and August, with activities designed to help participants build social and emotional skills through creativity, mindfulness and outdoor experiences
A variety of programs are offered
Rocky View Schools says the summer lineup includes programs such as Artistic Flow, Grow in Nature, Little Kids Yoga, Mindful Readers, Mindfulness in the Park and the Tie-Dyeversity community event
The division says the activities are intended to help participants develop resilience, emotional awareness, coping skills and confidence while encouraging creativity, movement and meaningful connections

Airdrie programs
According to Rocky View Schools, several programs will take place in Airdrie throughout the summer:
- Grow in Nature (ages 6 to 11) – Thursdays from July 2 to Aug. 13, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Chinook Winds Regional Park.
- Artistic Flow (ages 8 to 13) – Thursdays from July 2 to Aug. 13, 1 to 3 p.m. at Nose Creek Regional Park.
- Mindful Readers (ages 6 to 9) – Thursdays on July 2, 9, 16 and 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Airdrie Public Library.
- Little Kids Yoga (ages 6 to 9) – Thursdays on July 30 and Aug. 6 and 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Airdrie Public Library.
- Mindfulness in the Park (all ages) – Thursdays from July 2 to Aug. 13, 1 to 3 p.m. at Chinook Winds Regional Park. This program is offered on a drop-in basis.
- Family & Community Connection: Tie-Dyeversity (all ages) – Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Chinook Winds Regional Park. The event is free and available while supplies last.
Rocky View Schools says some programs require advance registration through SchoolEngage or participating community partners, while others are offered on a drop-in, first-come, first-served basis
Open to all families
According to Rocky View Schools, the programming is open to all families, regardless of where children attend school
The division notes that many sessions require children to be accompanied by an adult and encourages families to register early, as space is limited for programs requiring registration
Supporting mental wellness
Rocky View Schools says the free programming is designed to create inclusive opportunities for families to connect while supporting positive mental health during the summer months
