Music and mental wellness
Music can do more than entertain. It can also help people manage stress, process emotions and find moments of comfort during difficult times
Manal Toppozada, executive director of Note-Able Music Therapy Services, sat down with ARC Reno Friday morning to discuss the connection between music and mental well-being during Mental Illness Awareness Week. Toppozada explained the difference between listening to music for everyday stress relief and working with a trained music therapist. She also shared ways people can incorporate music into their daily routines, why certain songs can bring up strong emotions and how music therapy can provide individualized support.
